v3.4.0 rolled out over a month ago now and it has been a very smooth transition from previous releases for most users. There are a few minor issues (as always) that were picked up late and there will be a new version issued, v3.4.1, within the coming month to handle some of these.
The bulk of development is now on v3.5.0 which will be the statutory payroll release for you Uniwage users. Although there aren't a great deal of changes to be made this year, this is always a manic time for us. On top of the development required to be done, we have to get all of the Internet Filing forms recognised by HMRC (P14, P35, P11D, etc) as well as getting the entire Uniwage product reaccredited with the Payroll Standard.
We have taken to adding several more reports to the payroll in order to make jobs easier. In spite of claims by one payroll provider that they are the only ones who include it, Uniwage has had the ability to print an HMRC Employer Compliance file since v3.4.0. It is currently a utility on the CD, in v3.5.0 it will be on the Reports menu in Uniwage.
We are also including form CA6855, the NI Trace form, which prints details of employees for whom you do not have a National Insurance number. This form is then sent to HMRC who will return it with NI numbers if they found them.
Customers are warned that the P14 output to Magnetic Media is no longer available on the Windows version of Uniwage payroll. This is not recognised as a form of Electronic Exchange & is gradually being phased out by HMRC.
