Payroll News - DPS & Tax Credits

From the latest version of the HMRC software developer's notes:

Tax credits
Employers who have been paying Working Tax Credit through the payroll, but have still not received a final stop notice for each PVE employee, should contact the Employer Helpline without delay on 0845 7 143 143, to give us their details and those of their employee(s)....Employers who are still paying tax credits, and whose payroll arrangements mean that they would not normally pay the tax credit for March until some time in April, should contact us as soon as possible, so that we can arrange an earlier stop date...On no account should employers make tax credit payments to employees for any period after 31 March 2006, even if they have not received a stop or emergency stop notice from us.

DPS
Those of you who used the Secure Messaging Service (SMS) to download payroll forms electronically should have previously received an email from HMRC advising you that new forms were available in your inbox.

We have heard from the Revenue that due to the Data Protection Act, those email addresses were not allowed to be passed from the Government Gateway to the HMRC for the new Data Provisioning Service. Their advice is as follows:

Customers of the new Data Provisioning Service will only receive mail notifications, to alert them that data is awaiting retrieval, once an email address is entered within the pages of the new service. For customers who wish to receive a 'you got DPS mail' notification, they will need to enter their email address on the HMRC PAYE Online page as follows:

Log on to the HMRC PAYE portal using their existing credentials.
Once they reach the PAYE Online page, click on the link 'provide us with an email address', which can be found at the right hand side of the page within the 'View PAYE notices' section.
