I recently mentioned that we have developed a utility that will enable payroll users to continue downloading and importing their PAYE forms using the Revenue's new Data Provisioning Service (DPS) which has replaced the Secure Messaging Service (SMS).
I haven't yet received any feedback on my recognition request, but today it looks as though this utility won't make it into the next release of Uniwage. The DPS went live at HMRC this week, so I tested our utility with it usng our own Govt Gateway details and it failed to work in several places - all of which were at the Revenue's end.
I have contacted them and have been in conversation with their Team Leader today; there are known issues that are expected to be resolved very soon, but which mean that the DPS isn't going to be available to payroll customers until we at Carval are sure it is going to work perfectly.
This isn't particularly critical yet as all forms except for P9s will continue to go to the SMS until 6th April, so you can just carry on as normal. From the start of tax year 2006/07, however, all the forms will only go to the DPS so it is expected that it will all be sorted before then.
