v4.0 Released

HR Unity v4.0 is finally released today, both the Windows software and the Self-Service. The software has undergone months of testing, both internally and externally, and is now ready to ship.

Those of you upgrading to v4 will actually be seeing the version number on the Windows software as v4.0.1, as v4.0.0 was an internal release only. Details of what is in the new release have been mentioned in previous posts, and are outlined in the Release Notice that comes with the software as usual.

For payroll customers, note that v4.0 is still accredited with the Payroll Standard. Our listing on the HMRC accredited developers list shows v3.5.0 as the accredited version but this means that versions from v3.5 onwards are accredited.

It should also be noted that the new age-restriction rules introduced in October around statutory payments are not part of the Payroll Standard. Although v4.01 will not handle these new restrictions, the next version (v4.1) will, despite it not being a required part of the accreditation process. v4.1 will be the annual statutory release, scheduled for early 2007.

On the subject of HMRC, if you are ever having problems with submitting a form electronically to HMRC, or receiving any using the Data Provisioning Service utility, check HMRC's service availability page to see if there is a reason why you might be experiencing problems.

We have once again updated the version of the internal report writer software as of this release, which should provide users with more flexibility and functionality when writing their own reports.

A new option is also available to have certain elements of the database encrypted, to prevent database administrators from being able to view sensitive information outside of the Carval software. Contact our sales team (01752 764290) about adding this functionality to your installation.
