v4.0 Release update

The release of HR Unity v4.0 is all going according to schedule and is expected to be released on time in mid-October.

The work on multiple posts has been successfully run through the HMRC tests for aggregation of National Insurance payments. This is an area without which Uniwage payroll would not be able to regain the Revenue's Payroll Standard mark next year so it was of paramount importance that this was achieved.

Almost all of the development has focused on the multiple posts, whether it be to the screens you see or the behind the scenes. However, we have also been able to enhance a few areas of the suite, as well as clearing a large number of outstanding issues with the current release.

Earlier postings on this blog have made reference to changing user-defined reports and payslips, because changes to the underlying database structure are so significant. In order to minimize the effect this has on our customers, conversion utilities have been written to automatically make most (if not all) of these changes to the report files for you. This should be a case of simply running the conversion program against your report files and then carrying on as normal.

Whilst writing these conversion tools, we took the opportunity to add a feature that many of our payroll customers have asked for. Up until now, the archive payslip layout has been fixed by us and doesn't bear any resemblance to a company's normal payslip. Although the facility existed to configure the archive payslip as you wanted, this was still an exercise for the customer. An extra utility has been created that will take your normal payslip and convert it so that it will work as an archive payslip. This way, you can have exactly the same layout for both meaning you can use your own stationery.
